Scott Grimando is a renowned and widely collected fantasy artist. His series of Fairy and Angel paintings have brought him critical international acclaim. Known for his attention to detail his paintings are reminiscent of the Victorian Romantic School of art with vibrant figures offset by muted natural surroundings.
Scott is a truly modern artist equally adept in digital and traditional techniques creating a unique style that is at once contemporary and classical.
You now have the rare opportunity to commission a fantasy portrait of your children, family or of yourself by this modern master.
The Process: The concept for your portrait is discussed in advance and the artist suggests backgrounds from his vast library of nature photography.
the artist sets up a photo shoot with the subject in costume to match the lighting and angle of the scene. Scott can do the shoot in his own home studio on Long Island or In your home. Travel is not included in the rates quoted.
After that the real work begins. The artwork is approved in stages via email.
If you want to supply your own photo try to follow these guidelines:
Guidelines For Submitting Photos:
First you should pick a background from my selection of photographs found on this site. If you don't see what you had in mind contact me for additional material. I will be adding new backgrounds on a regular basis.
If you want me to use a background of your own make sure it's scanned at a high resolution (300dpi dependent on the size you wish it to be printed) or shot with a digital camera of at least 4 megapixals.
Don't use a camera mounted flash, as it tends to flatten the image and create an artificial quality. Use natural sunlight or a directional spotlight (or flash) preferably from high on the right side.
The same rules apply to supplying me with photographs of your children or yourself. Don't use a camera mounted flash. If you can, have a professional take the photo and show him or her the background you intend the image to be set into. Have the photographer match the lighting and angle of the background.
Keep in mind that I can't change the clothing on the subject. You should dress your children or yourself in the costume you wish to be portrayed in. You don't have to wear the wings. I can supply you with butterfly wing options. You can make your own costume from a few pieces of cloth and some safety pins.
